System Overview
Seed quality directly affects the yield of high-quality varieties, and variety impurity and reduced purity significantly reduce yields. Rapid and accurate variety identification and purity analysis play a crucial role in standardizing seed quality, variety approval, and counterfeit variety identification. Currently, seed testing is mainly carried out using biochemical marker identification methods such as protein electrophoresis and isozyme electrophoresis for variety identification. However, this method is not perfect for verifying the authenticity and purity of varieties.
From a genetic perspective, variety purity and authenticity identification essentially involve the identification of the variety’s genotype. Therefore, accurate and reliable identification can only be achieved by directly identifying the DNA molecules of the variety. DNA molecular markers directly reflect genetic polymorphism at the DNA level and can be used with accuracy and reliability for variety purity and authenticity identification. In response to the new generation variety purity determination method issued by the Ministry of Agriculture (SSR determination method for maize varieties), Beijing Liuyi Biotechnology Co., Ltd has developed and produced a sequencing electrophoresis system for the purpose of detecting seed genotypes. This system addresses issues related to seed grinding, amplification of target fragments, and electrophoresis detection.
System Features
- Strong specificity, designed specifically for large-scale seed testing at the DNA level (e.g., SSR, RAPD, etc.).
- The electrophoresis instrument has a dual plate design, allowing for the analysis of 200 samples, which is twice as much as traditional single-plate systems. This means that two varieties can be simultaneously tested when testing 100 seeds of a single variety.
- The system is fast and straightforward, simplifying the workload of seed testing, improving work efficiency, and saving labor costs.
